7mm Allen wrench
The calipers need a 7 mm hex wrench. The Caliper holder to remove the rotors takes an 18mm socket. This is a 2003 Ford escape..apparently it's the same as a Mazda tribute.

well i just changed the brakes on my Mazda mx3 what you do is take the 2 pins out of the calipers which is holding the pads in place and then you are able to remove the pads
You will need a lot wrench to remove the tire. You will need a needle nosed pliers and screwdriver to remove the brake pads.
you need to take off both caliper bolts and remove the caliper from the carriage... most Mazda calipers will not pivot...

take off the tire remove the caliper replace the brake disc if necessary and replace brake pads on the calipers reassemble do this for every tire to wish to change at that time
The calipers on a Mazda 6 turn inwards you don't push them to compress them.

You have to remove the calipers & remove the pads from the bottom. See autozone.com and look up the repair manual info on your make & model for specific procedures detail by detail.
