Because it is going into neutral. This is called "popping out of gear." It means the transmission's shot.
sound like transmission gone
You may need to replace your gear selector switch that might be located on the transmission at the gear input, or under the plastic cover around the shift knob in the passenger compartment. There are books you can get that will tell you what pins should be connected together in which gear selections. Another thing you can try is pull the TCM fuse if there is one, or the transmission control mod., fuse and let the transmission run itself. It will act differently but you should be able to figure if its the transmission or the electronic controller that is acting up. I had to change my transmission in my 91, and when I pulled my gear selector switch apart to clean it, I noted a bad connection inside and was forced to change it. One of my cooling lines had busted and blew out all of my fluid when I was going down the freeway.
No, but transmission line act as a lpf
My 1994 Honda Accord LX Automatic has recently started act strange It takes too long to pick up from D4 but still doesn't shift to second third nor fourth gear. When i do it manually rpm is going crazy... when i try to shift it down it just loses the power and i have to turn the car off then start it back again, then shift it to 1 and drive till car stops... Some cluttering noise i hear from transmission. What may possibly cuz this ?I have already changed the oil and that didn't seem to help at all ...
i had this problem with my 92 stealth auto my overdive gear was going out had to rebuild my tranny hopefully its not the same in you case i would get the tranny checked good luck
In an automobile, the gear system works by allowing the car to travel backward ("reverse gear"), or by changing the ratio between the engine speed and the vehicle speed. When a smaller gear drives a larger gear, the smaller gear turns faster than the larger gear. So this converts speed into torque. So it is easier for the vehicle to move, through the engine would need to be going fast. When a larger gear drives a smaller gear, the smaller gear turns faster than the larger gear, thus converting torque into speed. If both gears are the same size, then the output speed is the same as the input speed. In a typical 4-5 speed car, there may be 3 gear arrangements where the input gear is smaller than the output one, with less difference in size as the gear number increases. There is also likely an arrangement where they are the same size, and perhaps one where the input gear is larger than the output gear -- that's called overdrive. In a manual transmission, there is linkage from the gear lever which moves the different gear combinations into place. The gears are at different positions on the same shafts and are slid into the place. The clutch is used to disconnect the engine from the transmission while the driver changes gears. There are also smaller gears called synchronizers that help to allow for differences in the engine speed and the transmission speed. An automatic transmission is more complex. Instead of a manual clutch, a torque converter is used. That uses transmission fluid to couple the engine to the transmission. There is a pump that is used with the valve body to control fluid operated servos that work bands or plates. The valve body is essentially a fluid-based computer. The governor and the modulator valve act as "data" inputs for the valve body. The gears are typically in a planetary, or epicyclic, arrangement. There is a central "sun." There is a ring gear that is a drum that has the teeth on the inside, and there are "planet" gears that connect the sun gear to the ring gear. The planet gears are held by a carrier that turns. There are bands as mentioned above that tighten or loosen over the drums and change the behavior of the arrangement. Some automatic transmissions use a lockup clutch to lock the torque converter at higher speeds to eliminate slippage.
you get the syringe from naomi hunter in act 2

The Computer Abuse Amendments Act of 1994 was one of the six amendments made to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986. This amendment outlaws transmission of harmful computer codes, such as viruses.
Low transmission fluid will make a car act like this. Check the transmission fluid and fill to the full line.
