Honda Z1 automatic Transmission Fluid can be purchased at almost any auto parts store or cycle shop.
from the parts dept at a Honda dealer.
Absolutely use nothing but Honda ATF-Z1. Do not use any substitute as your transmission will shift hard. You can buy it at your Honda dealer. I know, it cost more. Well what does a transmission rebuild cost?
The service on that vehicle is very easy. On the bottom of the transmission there is a drain plug. Pull that plug out and wait for the fluid to drain completly. Reinstall the plug and fill with HONDA transmission fluid that you buy from the dealer. the filter is not serviceable on this vehicle so dont worry about it. Yes, that is possible. But you would need a donor car in order to have all the parts necessary. Otherwise the cost of doing this would be astronomical. My advice is to sell the Honda with an automatic transmission and buy a Honda with a manual transmission.

If you wish to learn how to rebuild a 1988 Honda Accord automatic transmission, then you should purchase Haynes Repair Manual, 1984 through 1989. You can buy this book at Autozone or www.amazon.com.
A 1998 Oldsmobile 88 takes ATP automatic transmission fluid. This is sold in most places that carry transmission fluid, or you can buy it through a dealer.
Only if they use genuine Honda transmission fluid. Most of the time they don't. They use generic Dexron fluid because it's cheap. Then they add a bottle of friction modifier to match the friction characteristics of Honda. Honda has a special transmission fluid and if you don't use it, you can void your warranty. So you can have Jiffy do it if you want to buy your own fluid.
One way is drop the pan for the transmission. But that will only take out a bit of the fluid about half. You will need a machine to get all the fluid out of the lines. If its something your worried about the cost just buy the fluid just buy it somewhere else like parts source or any other parts supplier. They will charge you a hour to do it at a dealer which is a lot cheaper than replace parts if you dont put enough fluid back into the transmission.
