unlikely...engines use or lose oil, if its using oil you can check the air intake port for oil residue and if you have no smoke or residue then its losing it. check thoroughly around the valve covers and oil pan, check every where you park for spots. normally all engines will burn oil as they get older, this is usually due to worn valve guides or piston rings, it just happens. if you dont see any spots on your drive way or oil on the bottom side of the pan then it is definately burning it.

What causes white smoke from diesel engine when its hot outside?

White smoke is unburned fuel, usually caused by low combustion temps in the engine. It should clear up after the engine warms up. If it takes a long time or the smoke persists when the engine is warm, it could be retarded injection. If you have a cold start lever pull it to the first notch and see if the smoke disappears. If not it could be an injector problem, or an injection problem (injection pump TDI... etc)

What causes smoke when running heater in 1978 firebird?

If you are talking about "smoke" that fills the interior it can be one of two things. One, a leaking heater core. Two...if your engine smokes from oil dripping on the exhaust, etc you could have a crack in the housing for the A/C and it's pulling in the smoke and gasses from the engine compartment.

Where could the leak on the evap be coming from on a 2004 Impala or can the solenoid go bad?

Small EVAP leaks can be hard to find. Most shops will perform a smoke test to pinpoint the source of a small leak. Leaks can be found anywhere from the purge valve on the engine all the way back to the gas cap including the vent valve, charcoal canister, steel lines, filler neck, rotted fuel tank, etc.

Why would a pilot eject?

There are almost too many reasons to type that would drive a flyer to eject. uncontrolled fire, loss of electrical or hydraulic power, loss of engine, impact with ground immenent, overwhelming smoke/fumes in the cockpit, catastrophic systems failure, aircraft got shot/hit by AAA or SAM, etc, etc, etc.

What would cause a 1993 Saturn SC2 to blow white and or black smoke out of the exhaust?

Black smoke would be unburned fuel: fuel injection problem. White smoke in the morning may be normal condensation. White smoke all the time would be blown head gasket (exhaust would smell sweet like burning coolant) Blue-white smoke would be oil burning...bad valve guides, piston rings, excessive blowby, etc. Black smoke = too much fuel in the mixture or not enough air. Check air filter or possibly a stuck injector. Blue or grey smoke = burning oil and indicates damage inside the engine or possibly a faulty vacuum modulator in a transmission that sucks transmission oil. White smoke = water vapor in the form of condensate. It's normal while the engine and/or the air is cold.

Why is my car using too much fuel getting black smoke changed the map sensor and catalytic converter but still no joy please help?

It would help to know what your car is, make, model, year, engine, etc.

What kind of additive can you use to reduce the smoke from your engine?

You can buy products from your local auto store like no smoke etc... They are basically very thick oil. Caution - i tried this years ago and YES the smoke stopped and the engine even felt more powerful than before! Then two weeks later it blew a head gasket!! Whoops.

What causes exhaust engine smoke?

If the smoke is coming from the tail pipe then: Blue smoke is primarily from internal engine wear. If it's constant when the engine is on, then the rings etc are worn and need to be replaced. If it only is blue when the engine is cold or first started, the rings are worn but not gone completely. You get the oil seeping during the night and it burns off when the car is started in the morning. Black smoke is a fuel/air mixture suggestion problems with injection or carburation. Cause of black smoke is due to running rich in the fuel air mix. White smoke can and DOES come from coolant burn off in the oil due to a leaking or blown head gasket, cracked head etc. If you aren't sure or you don't know what you're talking about, don't advise. Wrong advice can be more damaging than the actual problem.

How do you stop black smoke for a Mazda b2200 1991 2.2 engine?

Why does your 1996 dodge van 1500 3.9 smoke when you push the pedal?

I assume you mean smoke out the tailpipe. blue smoke = oil in combustion chamber. (maybe valve stem seals etc) white smoke = coolant in combustion chamber. (maybe head gasket etc) black smoke = fuel leaking out into exhaust or something worse like bad rings etc etc, could be lots of things.

Why is your smart car blowing Blue smoke?

Blue smoke from any car usually means that engine oil is being burnt, either inside the cylinder or on a hot surface such as the exhaust manifold, you need to ckeck for an oil leak, blown gasket etc.
