If your DUI conviction was within the last three years, then no. If it was more than three, but less than five years since your DUI conviction, it's possible but unlikely. If it was more than seven years ago, and there aren't multiple convictions to report, you're good to go - however, you won't be eligible to drive into Canada, where DUIs are a felony offence.
You need a CDL for that job, and even if you can keep your CDL with a DUI, it's going to be expensive for you to insure your rig.
I am from Philadelphia and was a commercial truck driver for over 18 years. If you have 2 DUI's you CAN'T ever get a CDL! It is very hard to get a CDL if you have one DUI. With the economy still in a recession with high unemployment, it is not easy to get a job in trucking. There are more drivers than freight nationwide. If your MVR is not clean, you will be at a strong disadvantage. The trucking companies are cherry picking anybody they want now-they are in the driver's seat!
Yes, a trucking job would be a good idea but you need to take things into consideration like the training and the amount of time which a trucking job requires.
Yes, there are a few trucking companies who are willing to give second chances, and whose insurance will allow them to hire you as long as the DUI/DWI conviction is at LEAST 3 years old from the date of CONVICTION, not arrest.
In order to find out what kind of training you must undergo in order to attain a job in the trucking industry you much consult a trucking company and ask them about it or perhaps talk to a person who works in the industry.
Yes, it is a fraud to misrepresent the truth with intent of getting around the law or requirement in question.
It won't be easy.
no you have to have one there
You wouldn't be able to work on an ambulance with a DUI as a major job duty is driving. The ambulance service wouldn't be able to insure you to drive.
