To change the nearside driveshaft seal on a Peugeot 307, first lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheel and the hub assembly if necessary, then carefully detach the driveshaft from the transmission or differential. Replace the old seal with a new one, ensuring it seats properly, and reassemble the driveshaft and hub. Finally, reattach the wheel and lower the vehicle, ensuring all components are secure.
You have to remove the driveshaft, and with an air impact remove the large nut, there's the seal.
It is possible the seal is just worn out but check the driveshaft u-joints. If a u-joint is bad it could cause the driveshaft to wobble putting extra strain on the rear seal.
Remove driveshaft, remove pinion nut that holds the driveshaft yoke on. Then remove the yoke and the seal will be behind the yoke.To pull the seal you need a seal puller or you could use a couple of screwdrivers to pry it out of the axle housing. Install seal & asm in reverse order.
u will need appropriate wrench to remove driveshaft you will then need a seal puller to pull old seal. then you need a hammer to tap new seal into place. then same wrench to reinstall driveshaft
To change the main rear oil seal on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500, you'll need to start by lifting the vehicle and supporting it securely. Remove the driveshaft, then unbolt the transmission from the engine and lower it slightly to access the rear main seal. Carefully pry out the old seal, clean the sealing surface, and install the new seal using a seal installer or a suitable tool to ensure it fits evenly. Reassemble the transmission, driveshaft, and any other components, making sure to refill any lost fluids.
You could remove the transmission and pour it out of the rear driveshaft seal. But I would recommend dropping the pan.
To change the prop seal on an Alpha One drive, you will need to first remove the propeller, then remove the drive shaft. Next, you can access the prop seal on the driveshaft housing and replace it with a new one. Make sure to properly align and secure all components when reassembling.
To change the oil seal on a Peugeot 206 automatic gearbox, first, ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported. Drain the gearbox oil, then remove the drive shaft or any components obstructing access to the oil seal. Carefully pry out the old seal using a suitable tool, clean the sealing surface, and then install the new seal, ensuring it's seated properly. Finally, reassemble any components, refill the gearbox with oil, and check for leaks.
Remove the you joint and driveshaft. Remove the rear end seal plate. Remove the seal and bearing. Reverse the process to install the new seal.
Disconnect the driveshaft, unbolt the yoke, pry out the seal, hammer in the new one with an appropriate sized driver. Oh, yeah... drain the transmission oil first.
The seal should run about 10 dollars or less. The mechanic shouldn't charge more than 40 dollars or so. It is a pretty easy job. Buy the seal, remove the driveshaft, knock the seal out, replace it with the new one and reinstall the driveshaft. Piece of cake. good luck.
u have to pull the driveshaft knock out the seal and install a new one, but if it is leaking the bushing needs to be replaced and u would need a bushing driver to install it. u can purchace a seal and bushing kit but the bushing is harder to replace
