It generally breaks down into a few steps:
1) get the right tools together (and the replacement stud if you know the size)
2) jack up the car and remove the wheel
3) remove the brakes
4) knock out the stud to be replaced.
(if you didn't get a replacement stud before you started, take the stud you removed with you to the auto-parts store to get it matched up to what you need)
5) Insert the new stud
6) screw a nut onto the stud and tighten it until the new stud is seated
7) reinstall your brakes and put your wheel back on
remove wheel. if disk brake, knock studs out with a hammer. insert new studs from rear side of disk. use a spacer and wheel nut to pull stud thru disk until seated. then remove wheel nut and spacer. replace wheel if drum brakes you need to remove the brake drum, then proceed same as for disk brakes
You have to have the hub pressed out of the knuckle to replace the wheel studs.

To replace the wheel lug studs on a 1967 Chrysler Newport, first safely lift the vehicle and remove the wheel. Then, remove the brake drum to access the lug studs. Use a hammer to tap the damaged stud out from behind the hub. Insert the new stud from the back, and secure it in place by tightening a lug nut onto the stud to pull it into position. Finally, reassemble the brake drum and wheel before lowering the car.
I belive they are the knock out type take off wheel and drum heat studs on the back hit from front. to replace put new studs in and put back on tires.

Pound your 2002 Suzuki left front wheel studs out. You will need to pound in the new studs in the same manner that you removed the old studs.
remove wheels knock studs out with a hammer insert new studs from the back side of rotor place a thick flat washer over the the sud against the front side of rotor using the wheek nut, tighten wheel nut which will pull stud back into rotor until seated remove wheel nut replace wheels if the suds to be replaced are on the rear, you will need to remove brake caliper and then remove rotor from vehicle the rear rotor is a combined disk brake and drum brake for the emergency brake this will come off with a wheel puller or by knocking with a hammer onece removed knock broken suds out then insrt new ones. can then use a hammer to seat new ones reinstall rotor and caliper. replace wheel
To remove wheel studs from a 2000 Honda Civic the wheel needs to be removed. Taking the wheel hub completely off the vehicle makes the process of removing the studs easier. The studs are pressed in and use of a machine press to remove them is recommended.
remove wheel. remove brake caliper. remove center "dustcap" from rotor. remove cotter pin. remove nut lock. remove adjuster nut. remove rotor. the rotor has the studs pressed into it so you now have 2 options. 1: press in new stud(s) 2: replace entire rotor.
