The cooling system on liquid-cooled cars circulates a fluid through pipes and passageways in the engine. As this liquid passes through the hot engine it absorbs heat, cooling the engine. After the fluid leaves the engine, it passes through a heat exchanger, or radiator, which transfers the heat from the fluid to the air blowing through the exchanger. The cooling system in your car has a lot of Plumbing. We'll start at the pump and work our way through the system. The pump sends the fluid into the engine block, where it makes its way through passages in the engine around the cylinders. Then it returns through the cylinder head of the engine. The thermostat is located where the fluid leaves the engine. The plumbing around the thermostat sends the fluid back to the pump directly if the thermostat is closed. If it is open, the fluid goes through the radiator first and then back to the pump. There is also a separate circuit for the heating system. This circuit takes fluid from the cylinder head and passes it through a heater core and then back to the pump.

Why does a car need water in its engine?

Water or coolant keeps the engine cool . -Some engines are air cooled.

Why is water used to cool car engines?

Because the water conducts heat, and so the cars excess heat is took away by the cool water. Making sure the car will not get too hot to function properly or cause danger to the passengers or others around the car. We do not want the car to go up in flames! So, water is needed and no other liquid could do the job.

What does a water pump do in a car?

The water pump works in conjuntion with the cooling system to cool the engine down on the vehicle. Check the site out below is has the basics for engines (and a few other things as well.)

Do air cooled engines cool by conduction?

No, all engines cool by radiation.

Who invented the first water car and could you see a pichure?

will i think that its cool to invinte a water car.

Are car engines pulleys?

yes car engines are pulleys

Why does my car overheat when the water reservoir is empty?

Water is used to cool things down.

What is the purpose of water in a car's radiator?

The radiator cools the water which then goes to your engine to cool it off, as cool water enters your engine hot water from the engine enters your radiator

How much water is used to make a car?

we need 8 tonnes of water just for one single car.(to cool down the heat of the metal on the car)

Can you put anti-freeze in your AC instead of dex-cool?

Neither should go in your air conditioner! I assume you mean the radiator which has coolant, but this is not an air conditioner and will not make your air in the car blow cold. If you need coolant for the coolant system then the type of coolant depends on the make and model of the car. However, it is ALL anti-freeze. That is what DEX cool is, but Dex cool is for specific engines. In general, most engines that I have come across will take DEX. What type of car and what year is it?

Why do car engines get hot?

Car engines get hot to run generally but if you mean over heated it means that your coolant level is low and you could go buy coolant or you could just fill it with water

Does the ac in a 99 VW beetle also cool the engine?

No, all "new generation" beetles have water cooled engines.
