I had a similar problem. My 95 cougar would stutter when I would put it into gear, especially when I was going up a hill, and it would take me a while to work up some speed. What I did to solve the problem is, instead of buying a new mass air flow sensor, I cleaned the one I had with electrics part cleaner that I bought for $4 at a local auto store.
