It usually make a tick sound when you turn the ignition.
One sound is what is called starter drag, slow turning sound, like Grrr Grrr Grrr
Depends on what's wrong with the starter, exactly. It could be whirring sound, a clicking sound, no sound at all, etc.
starter
I'm guessing it clicks but won't start? If that's the case its the starter drive going out to engage the flywheel but the starter motor is not turning. Probably needs a starter but you should check to make sure there is correct voltage in system (battery & alternator is o/k) and that the wiring is also o/k to the starter & at the battery.
A clicking sound when you turn the key could mean your battery is dead. It could also indicate the starter is going out.
It can be a dead battery, or a bad starter, the click sound you hear is from the starter relay mounted on the inner fender near the battery, use a test lite and make sure power is coming out of the relay and going to the starter, always replace both the starter and relay if either is found to be bad
Sound is probably not the starter, but the solenoid.... oscar drive ton car au garage... plus facile unless tu veut changer ton starter, solenoid vien avec............ -- vince
When a starter goes completely out then the engine will not turn over. A starter that is going bad could start sometimes or make considerable noise.
It begins to sound bad: slow, crunchy, squeaky or some other bad noise.
i would check the cranking circuit, starter, starter relay, ignition switch, neutral safety switch.
It can be a defective starter assembly that causes this problem. There are two parts to a starter assembly: the starter motor and the starter solenoid. The offending culprit is usually the starter solenoid, and it should be replaced.
