If your starter is stuck and won't come off, first ensure all mounting bolts and electrical connections are removed. Try gently tapping the starter with a rubber mallet to loosen it, being careful not to damage surrounding components. If that doesn't work, apply penetrating oil around the mounting area to help break the bond. Allow the oil to sit for a while, then attempt to wiggle the starter back and forth to free it.
A 1986 Ford F150 starter won't stuff off when the key is turned off if the ignition switch is jammed. This will cause the start signal to be sent to the starter continuously.
The switch or relay must be stuck.
Pry on it. It's just stuck to the bottom of the truck.
follow the wires that come off the positive battery terminal the starter has two bolts to take off then the starter comes off then unhook the power wires from starter
Does it have a remote starter? Defective ignition switch?
Becuz if u cut it off then the water will get stuck and we wont have no water!!
Battery flat, or starter ring stuck? Charge battery. For starter ring: put in 3rd gear(ONLY if manual gearbox, NOT if automatic), take foot off clutch, get friends to help you rock car back and forwards, ring will free with a jump! NB do not try with auto gearbox. Also, could be starter soleniod, try tapping gently on starter casing.
If it is the starter that is grinding then the teeth may have been ground off. Either a new starter or flywheel is in order.
i click the pic i want but does not come off
Starter solenoid switch is stuck closed.
I have worked on a 98 trail boss. You have to take off the fly wheel cover/recoil first. After that there are two or three bolts that will come out of the starter. there is a ground strap that is attached to the starter that needs to come off also.
Remove the starter cables. Remove the retaining bolts. The starter will come off. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
