I think this problem was solved and also documented really well with a procedure and photos at the website: http://65.39.242.200/~aghl/Aurora/index.html The problem is caused by a small amount of grease inside the turn signal lever slowly flowing over time between the electrical contacts inside the turn signal - intermittently shorts-out the headlights or parking light switches causing them to flicker on and off. Cheaper than buying a new Multifunction switch is to open the existing one and just wipe away the excess grease.
More that likely the headlight switch is bad. Turn your headlights on and when they start to flicker tap on the headlight switch real fast. If they flicker to you tapping on the switch, that's the problem. They had problems with that switch around that year. It's a pretty cheap fix and you can do it your self quickly. Can also be a sign of a failing alternator.
replace your head light switch
Loose wires, loose bulb, loose switch. Or maybe its because you live on a really bumpy road and it only looks like they flicker...
i would have the light switch checked to see if it is faulty
We might need a little more information. Do the lights flicker every time you switch between low and high? Have you noticed that your turn signal stalk feels gritty or mushy? When you switch to high beams, do they ever flicker later, or just when you switch them? Do they ever go out entirely? I'm thinking that maybe the turn signal switch might be bad, but it's hard to say with no more info. FriPilot
Yes, a faulty light switch can cause lights to flicker or not turn on properly.
The headlamp switch controls the power to the dimmer switch and then on to the headlights. The headlamp switch controls the power to the dimmer switch and then on to the headlights.
LED lights flicker when connected to a dimmer switch because the dimmer switch is designed to work with incandescent bulbs, which have a different way of producing light compared to LEDs. The dimmer switch may not be compatible with the electronic components in the LED lights, causing them to flicker.
Often it is too much grease in the switch. This is a known problem and fixable. Follow the Related link to view a solution.
