Could be,The new battery is discharged.
The battery cables are faulty or corroded.
The starter is faulty.
The starter solenoid is faulty.
The starter relay is faulty.
The neutral safety switch is faulty.
The ignition switch is faulty.
If the starter is cranking the engine but the engine fails to start and run there could be many more reasons. Give us more details.

Go get a new battery using another car. Or get the dead car jump started using another vehicle. There are companies that have mobile battery services that will come right to your home or wherever the car is located and replace the battery.

Are your battery cable connections clean and tight ?
I would not buy any battery over 6 months old.
