When do you know your going to start your period for the first time?

You will start getting a white sticky liquid in your pants this is called discharge(in your pants it will go hard and crusty). Soon this will start to turn brown but this could take from 2days to 2 years (the brown stuff is dry blood). Do not worry though it is not harming you it just means that you are a lady now. Your period often causes you pain and may need to hold your tummy or sit how you feel is comfortable and some people put hot water bottles on their tummy for relaxation and pothers have to take pills. You period happens once a month it will last for 7-10 days.

To prevent you leaking during your period you could use a sanitary towel or a tampon. Always tell your mother when you have started you period and never use a tampon for the first time without your mom. Always take sanitary towels or tampons everywhere with you. When you are swimming always use a tampon. Tampons come in different sizes but always start with a small one because a big one might get stuck up your vagina. Sanitary towels lie in your pants and soaks up any leaking blood but change them once every 3hours. With a tampon it goes up inside your vagina but this may and you may not be able to use them so if it does hurt stick to sanitary towels.

Once you have started your period you can have children so be very careful (as a warning if you do have sex make sure your safe and always use a condom) you can sometimes buy towels tampons and condoms in bathrooms in motorway services,pubs etc. For any more information read a book on growing up and stuff the book that I would recommend is called usbourne facts of life GROWING UP all about adolescence,body changes and sex.
