Until you die, plus many pills each days.
Cirrhosis of the liver in the basic "killing off" of healthy liver cells. The causes are linked to excessive alcohol use or abuse and Hepatitus C. What smoking does to the lungs, excessive alcohol and Hepatitus C does to the liver.
Cirrhosis is a scarred liver, normally caused by alcoholism, long-time liver disease. Since the liver is a very important organ, when it fails, you don't have much longer to live unless you get a transplant.
No human can live without a liver. The liver itself provides 500 functions, and is just as essential as the heart and brain. Without the liver one could not digest food. A few other functions the liver provides are storing vitamins and minerals, and regulating the body's metabolism!
A person cannot live without a healthy liver, because of the contributions of the organ to digestion and to cleansing the blood. But an adult with a failed liver can survive (under extensive medical care) for a day or two, possibly as long as 3 days, before a transplant becomes necessary. (In some cases, a partial transplant may be used to allow a damaged liver to regenerate.)
Chronic, as opposed to acute, means something that develops over a long period of time. Chronic liver disease would include cirrhosis (scarring of liver tissue) due to alcoholism.

Mt Dew has high levels of fructose and caffien both of which are metabolized by the liver. This leaves the chance of developing scerosis of the liver and liver disease. If you have an existing liver condition not only can the consumption of Mt Dew...or any other soda for that matter....be harmful, but in some cases fatal.

There is no way to say for sure, and his doctor has the best idea how long he will live.
You could but not for very long as your liver filters everything your body doesn't need
Depends on how much damage.

Cirrhosis of the liver involves irreversible damage. The only treatment is abstaining from alcohol, and supporting liver function by not stressing it in other ways. It is possible to live for long periods with liver damage, provided that it is not too far advanced.
