it depends witch kind of plant you have sunlight effects all plants differently, normal potted plants for decor are in need of lots of sun and water, they cannot be dryed out.. food plants... they do need water at least once a week and full attention of sun.. and trees, they need it everyday constantly.. due to their process of photosynthisis
Cells grow when a single cell divides into two cells and that process keeps going it is called mitosis. when you reach adult hood and you stop growing it will still do this process because the old cells died out dryed out and new ones will replace them.
They decay and decompose, making good dirt or soil.
