This always happens when you eat something with 'starch' (or amylum) Your saliva contains 'amylase' which is an enzyme that breaks the starch into simple sugars. (Because starch is just a chain of many sugar/glucose molecules) Thats why, if you leave bread or plain biscuits in your saliva for a while, it will taste sweet:) You can prove this, by making a starch with water mixture, and when is has binded you spit in it: it becomes fluid again because the saliva breaks down the starch. (This also works with vinegar, because acids also breaks down starch) hope this helps
