What is GMO genetically modified organisms?

A genetically modified organism results from a gene being removed from one organism and artificially inserted into an organism of a totally different species. This is a simplified explanation and the process is done in a lab.

What molecules unify organisms genetically?

In genetic engineering, a gene is removed from one organism and inserted into an organism of an totally different species.

What are organisms of fragments of DNA that are genetically identical to the organism or fragments that they produced from called?

Clones.

Do biologist use age to classify organisms?

No. They use the structural characteristics of the organism physically and genetically.

Organism that can interbreed with each other in mature but are genetically isolated from all other organisms are what?

Organisms or fragments of DNA that are genetically identical to the organism or fragment they were produced from are called?

D. Enzymes

Are transgenic organisms male and female?

A transgenic organism is an organism that has been genetically engineered. It has genes from more than one organism. Can be both, male or female.

How was genetically modified food created?

Genetically modified food is created in a lab by removing a gene from one organism and forcing it into an organism of a different species.

Who discovered genetically modified organisms and when?

No one discovered genetically modified organisms. Such organisms are created by people working in laboratories. In 1953 it was discovered that DNA is the material that carries genes, the information that defines and structures each organism. For the next 50 years people worked to understand DNA and eventually learned how to modify it, in some circumstances. When such a modification is successful, the result is an organism that has been genetically modified - a genetically modified organism.

What are the chacteristics of a species?

This is a tough question in the field of taxonomy. A species is classified as a group of organisms that can interbreed. However, this is more more complicated. Suppose Organism A can successfully interbreed with Organism B, Organism B with Organism C, and Organism C with Organism D; however, Organisms A and D are too genetically different to interbreed. Is this one species or multiple species? Does it really matter? Why do I keep asking questions about schizophrenia and why do I?

Why are genetically modified organism beneficial?

Genetically modified organisms are modified on a genetic level to benefit humans. How this can pose a threat to a population or ecosystem, is that if the genetically modified organism were to somehow create a mutation, and pass that on, it could be damaging to the future generations in reducing their health or other issues may arise. It can also be damaging to an ecosystem if a genetically modified organism were to escape into a wild population and change it.
