* Hmm, that's weird. A year before I had a painful lump, but it was on my neck. I learned it was a swollen lymph node, and the doctor suggested to my mom to have them surgically removed. I don't know why they were swollen, or why they could'nt wait for them to go back to normal, but they were painful. I think I also had a high fever. It was hard, and would move around a lot, when I touched. When they were removed eveythink was better, no more lumps
I don't think lymph nodes form on the back, but they might. It could be an infection or added stress. If you have a human anatomy book, look at the back area to see if ir has lymph nodes. I hope it's nothing serious, because really that's what mine came out to be. I don't even think I needed surgery.
its were hair grows
your vertebrae
Something for your medical practitioner to look at

Take care
It is most likely some type of cyst. You should have the lump looked at by your local doctor to rule out anything serious.Ê
Well it depends: I have a painless lump on the base of my neck but that's part of my spine! I'm guessing it is the same for you. But if you're really worried and think it is something different, then you should seek out a doctor's advice.
I don't know why! Go to a doctor!
its were hair grows
i have the same painless hard lump at the center of my forehead for 3 years now. it is not getting any bigger so i did not seek any medical help.
Could be cancer, a cyst, a bone spur...point is....get to the doctor fast.
...many things
This sounds like what i have. I've had ultrasounds and biopsies and other tests done and found out its a goitre.. ie. a 3.5cm cyst, on my thyroid in my neck. It's harmless. And blood tests showed my thyroid levels are fine. But i have to keep an eye on it - it seems to have gotten smaller (by like a cm?). But it still annoys me knowing it's there... grrrrr! Sometimes i just wish it'd disappear and sometimes i think about just getting it cut out so there's no lump - however then i'd be left with a scar... so im just gonna leave it.
If you have lump under your right nipple you should watch it and go a doctor about it
Lipoma, sebaceous cyst, and abscess are common causes of bumps on the back under the skin. See your health care provider for a specific diagnosis in your case.
Please have it checked by a Doctor as soon as possible.

Any lump (painless or not) is cause for concern. I would get it checked out, it may be nothing....but it could be something serious, you should get it checked early. It could be something as innocous as harmless skin lump or it could be something more, go to the doctor to be checked out.
