This is where the involuntary stuff happens, dilation of pupils, mood changes, anxiety and fear (hair on the back of your neck standing up...). This is sort of the caveman in us.
Hope this was helpful.

The Limbic System is known as the Paleomammalian Brain. Its a set of brain structures including the hippocampus, amygdala, anterior thalamic nuclei, and limbic cortex, which support a variety of functions including emotion, behavior, long term memory, an olfaction.
Definition from Wikipedia-The limbic system.
The limbic system is located in the brain and controls a number of bodily functions including one's sense of smell, the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine system. Three structures in the limbic system are the hypothalamus, hippocampus and amygdala.

The bundle of nerves connecting various parts of the limbic system is called the fornix. It plays a key role in connecting structures like the hippocampus and the hypothalamus, allowing for communication within the limbic system.

Various portions of the older (inner parts) of the brain (such as the limbic system) via the Spinal Cord.
It's not really a structure. The thalamus and the hypothalamus are associated with parts of the cerebral cortex and deep nuclei of the cerebrum to form a complex known as the limbic system. the limbic system is involved in memory and in emotions such as sadness, happiness, anger and fear. It seems to regulate emotional behavior, especially behavior that enhances survival.
The limbic system is located on top of the brain stem and buried under the cortex.
