Gregor Mendell, the Father of Genetics spent years breeding pea plants and recording facts about the offspring of the plant. From his studies he learned about what happens to produce a yellow wrinkled pea and a smooth green pea. He learned the usual offspring chararistics from certain parent pea plants. This lead to his theory. The predictions for chararistics of offspring we can predict by using Punnett Squares. Punnett Squares show the crossing of genetics and their offspring.

he published his experiment in 1866 but it was ignored until 1900 but he had sadly passed away before it was recognised.
We learned that many traits are inherited in discrete units, and are not the result of blending.
He investigated genes :)

The aim of Gregor Mendel was to prove the laws of inheritance through his experiments with the breeding of pea plants.
Gregor Mendel is studied because he used to pea plants to discover gene inheritance.
