Reporter enzymes are used extensively in molecular Biology because they have particular characteristics that allow visual, spectrophotometric detection of these immune complexes. E.g. HorseRadish Peroxidase is a widely used reporter enzyme, it produces a colour, fluorimetric or luminescent derivative of the labelled analyte allowing it to be detected and quantified.
