Well, the skeleton of the chest is made up of several parts. There is the rib cage, thoracic vertebra, and the sternum. The rib cage is made up of 12 ribs, 7 of which connect the sternum and are called true ribs. The thoracic vertebra is just a fancy name for you back bone where you ribs connect to. The sternum on the large bone that devides the rib cage in half it is made up of three connected parts: manubrium, body, and xiphoid process.
