Tennessee Valley Authority

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), established by Congress in 1933, is the nation's largest public power provider and a regional economic development agency. TVA is also a steward of the Tennessee River, the fifth largest river system in the United States. TVA dams, reservoirs, locks, and power plants are managed as an integrated system for navigation, flood damage reduction, power production, water quality, water supply, recreation, and land use across seven southeastern states. Its hydropower system includes 29 conventional generating plants and one pumped-storage facility.
