What is virus and explain its structure?

Virus is Latin word which means "POISON". They are of different shapes, some are rounded, rod-shaped, and polyhedral and some are like tadpoles. STRUCTURE:Structurally viruses are not cellular but are made up of nucleic acid and proteins. They have to parts, an outer "coat" and inner "core". A simple DNA virus, Genetic material surrounded by a protein coat called a capsid that may, or may not be shaped into landing on bacteria/cellular struts.

Retroviruses can be more complex. The HIV virus has genetic material. two reverse transcriptase enzymes, the protein capsid and then a membrane acquired on exit from the invaded cell which is studded with glycoproteins.

Viruses are very complexed 'things'. I call them things because although they are technically alive, the show none of the signs of the life.

A virus is basically a ball of protein which encases the viruses strand of RNA or DNA. On the surface of a virus is its antigens which act as identification. (these are how the immune system recognises them as foreign)

A virus reproduces by taking of a cell of the host organism, injecting its DNA or RNA strand which overrides the hosts, and basically turning the cell into a virus making factory. The viruses DNA tells the cell to create virus cell after virus cell until the viruses burst out of the cell and invade others around the body.
