Without mitochondria your cell wouldn't be able to breakdown sugar. So you would have high levels of sugar in your body which may lead to Diabetes. If you get diabetes you will need to treat it with insulin which will help cells absorb the sugar. Insulin is like a key to opening the cell to help sugar go in. If this is not treated it leads to more complications such as heart problems. EX: hypertension or problems with skin not healing properly or even in later stages kidney problems that can lead to dialysis if this is not treated you can die. This all starts with problems without the mitochondria in your cells.

Adenosine triphosphate also known as ATP is a main source of energy for many chemical reactions within the cell. Usually the reaction of removing a phophate group from ATP (known as hydrolyzing ATP to ADP) is coupled with another reaction to provide energy for that reaction to occur. Overall many enzymes and reactions rely on ATP to proceed.

You have heard of cyanide poisoning. This effects the production of ATP. It was used as a method of execution. Without ATP, your body would shut down almost immediately.
