Without mitochondria your cell wouldn't be able to breakdown sugar. So you would have high levels of sugar in your body which may lead to Diabetes. If you get diabetes you will need to treat it with insulin which will help cells absorb the sugar. Insulin is like a key to opening the cell to help sugar go in. If this is not treated it leads to more complications such as heart problems. EX: hypertension or problems with skin not healing properly or even in later stages kidney problems that can lead to dialysis if this is not treated you can die. This all starts with problems without the mitochondria in your cells.

What molecule is used as cells as an energy source?

ATP (adenosine triphosphate), or ultimately it would be glucose.

Why is adenosine triphosphate (ATP) considered such a crucial and indispensable biological molecule?

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is crucial in biology because it serves as the primary energy currency of cells. It provides the energy needed for various cellular processes, such as muscle contraction, nerve signaling, and synthesis of molecules. Without ATP, cells would not be able to function properly, making it an indispensable molecule for life.

Energy released by electrons is often used to phosphorylate?

Adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, is the most common source of energy in cells, and is created through phosphorylation. This can be photophosphorylation (as occurs in photosynthesis) or substrate level phosphorylation, or oxidative phosphorylation. ATP is created by adding a phosphate group to ADP (adenosine diphosphate), so the answer to your question would be that the energy is used to phosphorylate ADP, turning it into ATP.

What are energy sources that cells use?

Cells primarily use adenosine triphosphate (ATP) as their primary energy source. ATP is generated through processes like cellular respiration, which converts nutrients such as glucose into ATP. In addition, cells can also utilize other sources of energy like lipids and proteins for ATP production.

Why is ATP necessary for the body to function normally?

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the primary energy carrier in cells, providing the energy required for various cellular processes, including muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, and protein synthesis. Without ATP, cells would not be able to perform essential functions efficiently, leading to a breakdown in cellular processes and ultimately impacting overall bodily function.

If two phosphate were removed from ATP the remaining molecule would be?

ADP (adenosine diphosphate) would be the remaining molecule after two phosphate groups are removed from ATP (adenosine triphosphate). This conversion releases energy that can be used by cells for various biological processes.
