M [mitosis] phase is when the two daughter Cells are formed; G [growth] phase is the phase that precedes S [synthesis] phase wherein Dna replication occurs - S phase.

boefore a cell under goes divsion it copies it chromosomes , so when the nucleus divides one copy of chromosomes is given in one cell and oother copy in the other cell.
