A frameshift mutation will have the most serious effects.
A frameshift mutation is a type of mutation involving the insertion or deletion of a nucleotide in which the number of deleted base pairs is not divisible by three.
Divisible by three is important because the cell reads a gene in groups of three bases.
Each group of three bases corresponds to one of 20 different amino acids used to build a protein.
If a mutation disrupts this reading frame, then the entire DNA sequence following the mutation will be read incorrectly.

Which type of mutation will have no effect on an individual?

A silent mutation

What type of chromosomal mutation would have the most serious effect on the cell?

A lethal mutation would have the most serious effect as it would cause death; however as to which specific mutation, this cannot be known until it's observed for that particular case and in that particular organism.

Would a frameshift mutation have more serious effect if it occured near the beginning of a gene or the end of a gene?

It would occur more serious at the beginning of a gene

Which type of mutation has no effect on phenotype?

The three types of mutation are deletions, insertions and point mutations. The type of mutation that has no effect on phenotype is point mutation.

What effect do mutation have on survival?

It depends on the mutation. Some mutations have no effect on survival, some mutations are lethal, and some mutations make an individual better adapted to its environment, so it will be more fit than those without the mutation, and therefore produce more offspring with the same mutation, which could change the allele frequency of a population.

What is a mutation called that has no effect on an organism?

a neutral mutation

What is the difference between a genetic disorder and a genetic mutation?

Mutation is any change in the genetic code of an individual regardless of how the change manifests. A genetic disorder is the result of an unfavorable mutation that results through through heterozygous recessive parents producing a homozygous recessive offspring, a random dominant mutation, or multiple polygenic mutations that compound for a negative effect on an individual as examples.

Would a frame shift mutation have a serious effect if it occurred near the beginning of a gene or the end of a gene?

Frameshifts causes everything on a DNA sequence to shift and be misread; therefore, a mutation at the beginning changes more of the code.

Which type of mutation is likely to have the least effect on an organism?

A silent mutation

Why does a mutation in a sex cell have potential for great effect?

A mutation in a sex cell can be passed on to your offspring and to their offspring as well. Therefore, its effect is greater than that of a somatic mutation.
