Pitutary was called as master gland becoz it releases tropic hormones(hormones which cntrl the secreations of other glands).

But now the case is not same.becoz it is itself undr the contrl of hypophysics.so pitutary is not the so called master gland.

It is considered a master gland because The pituitary gland secretes hormones regulating homeostasis, including tropic hormones that stimulate other endocrine glands. in a simple way its hormones stimulate other glands to secrete their hormones
