It is impossible to answer this question accurately!. If you are talking about captive wolves then it could be done (look up each zoo and add them up).

Wild wolf populations move fast and are very good at hiding. As such it is impossible to have an accurate figure as to how many wolves there are in one country let alone a whole group.

Israel has a stable population of roughly 50. Last year genetic analysis showed that a species called the egyption golden jackel was actually a wolf.

I hope this goes some way to answering your question, though as I say no person in teh world could give you an accurate figure for the number of wolves in one country, let alone a group of countries. You might be interested to know though that it is thought wolves were first domesticated in this part of the world (domestic dogs are descended from wolves that hung around human habitations in israel and gradually became 'pets')
