Alex could say over 100 words, he could count up to six and recognized several materials. Alex died on September 6, 2006. Parrots mainly live in South to Central and even up to Illonois(Quaker parrots live in Illinois but they are nonative) There are 14 species that are extinct and one third of the 350 some species are threatened. The smallest parrot is the pygmy parrot that is three inches long, and the largest is the Hyacinth macaw, which can be up to three feet long including the tail. The heaviest (and it might not surprise you that it is also the only flightless parrot) is the kakapo.
