Sounds like your fuel/mixture screw is not set right.. It may be too lean or opposite. You'll want to turn it all the way in, then out 3 1/2 turns. If you need more info on this do a search under fuel mixture screw for shadow sabre.

Try 1.5 turns out on the mixture screw for an initial setting.
Turn the fuel screw all the way in, the turn it out two and a half turns. Turn the pilot air screw half a turn in to enrich the fuel mixture and keep it from stalling at low speeds if needed. If the fuel mixture is too lean then turn the fuel screw out a little, like a half turn.
If it has a carby there is a sealed mixture screw on the right side looking from the front. Drill out the the plug and the screw is behind it be careful not to damage carb
