Starch is made up of repeating glucose units. Though it is a non reducing sugar, its hydrolysis gives out pure glucose, which is known as dextrose. And glucose, as we know, is a reducing sugar and hence would give a positive result in Benedict's test.

How will bean seeds give a positive test for starch?

The seed uses the starch until it become an adult plant or in other words, until it is fully grown to produce its own food. Inside the cotyledon, starch is present and thus, gives a positive result for starch :)

Why sucrose does not give a positive Benedict's test but hydrolyzed sucrose does give a positive beneditcts test?

Sucrose is formed from glucose and fructose.Sucrose is formed from glucose and fructose. Glucose and fructose gives positive test for benedict becuz both of them are reducing sugars whereas sucrose is not a reducing sugar so it gives negative test for benedict. On prolonged heating, sucrose will form glucose and fructose (reducing sugars)which ultimately gives a positive result .

What conclusion can you draw when an experimental sample gives both a positive starch and a positive maltose test after incubation?

The maltose positive test will have a degree of how positive, it is. That will tell you how much of the starch has been digested.

What conclusions can you draw when an experimental sample gives both a positive starch test and a positive maltose test after incubation?

Starch digestion (hydrolysis) is incomplete

Why does the number of negative factors affect the signs of the product in math equations?

Multiplying or dividing a positive and negative gives a negative result. Multiplying or dividing two negatives gives a positive result.

Do two positives make a negative in division?

No, a positive number divided by another positive number gives a positive result.

Why doesn't aspartame react in Benedict's soluion?

It's not a reducing sugar. In fact, it's not a sugar at all. Benedict's solution gives a positive test, brick-red precipitate, with reducing sugars such as glucose and fructose.

Does testosterone gives a positive results with lieberman-burchard test?

Testosterone has an -OH group, which gives a positive result with the Lieberman-Burchard test. (A greenish blue color is seen.)

What is the difference between Benedict's Reagent and Biuret Reagent?

Benedicts reagent is used to check reducing sugars , it need hat to work and gives red color when positive ,. While biuret reagent is for proteins .there is no need to use heat and gives purple , violet color when positive ..
