No matter what you use to accomplish this, test it on an inconspicuous area first. Make sure that you will not damage any visible part of the furniture. In my opinion, plain old lighter fluid (for lighters like a Zippo, not charcoal lighter) works the best on gloss, polyeurethane,plastic, wood and metal. I do not belive that it is damaging to leather, but i would assume it does somethign horrid to microfiber. Remember TEST IT OUT FIRST!!!! all furniture is different
