Best Answer

add water

The above person is a troll....

This works for any volume of start and finish

Litersc * Molesc / Litersc = Litersd * Molesd / Litersd

where subscript c is concentrated and subscript d is dillute.

The easier way to write this is C1V1=C2V2

so if you are going from 12M and want to go to 0.3M then it would be:

12M*V1=.3M*1L

V1=.3ML/12M= 0.025L = 25mL

The formula for dilution is (C1)(V1)=(C2)(V2).

Here C1=12M, V1 is unknown, C2=1M, and V2 is the amount of 1M HCl needed.

For example, if you want 200 mls of 1M HCl:

(12)(x)=(1)(200)

x=16.67 mls of 12M HCl

200-16.67=183.3 mls of H2O

Add 16.67 mls of 12M HCl to 183.3 mls of H2O to get 200 mls of 1M HCl

How do you prepare 0.02 M of HCl?

Preparing 1N HCl for 1L. 1N=1M in HCl. Conc. HCl= 12M M1V1=M2V2 12*V1=1*1000 V1=1000/12 V1=83.33ml 1N HCl= 83.33ml of Conc. HCl in 1L of water 2N HCl= 167ml of Conc. HCl in 1L of water.

How do you make a 1 molar solution of HCl using 12 molar?

Take 83.3 mL and add water up to 1000 mL (12 times as much) The above only helps in one situation... here is the way to do it for any situation Litersc * Molesc / Litersc = Litersd * Molesd / Litersd where subscript c is concentrated and subscript d is dillute. The quicker way to write it is C1V1 = C2V2 so if you are going from 12M and want to go to 1M then it would be: 12M*V1 = 1M*1L Rearrange and solve: V1 = 1ML/12M = 0.0833 L = 83.3 mL

Hey I've got 2L of 36 ww HCl How do i make 1L of 1M HCl?

Not entirely correct: The molecular weight of HCl is 36.46g/Mole therefore a 36% (w/w) solution would be 36g/100g H2O or 36g/100mL H2O or 360g/L dividing that out, an exact 36% soln of HCl would be 9.87M (or 9.87N). To make a 1L soln of 1M HCl from 9.87M HCl you add 101.28ml HCl @ 9.87M to 898.72ml H2O. In practice HCl is labeled 36-38% (w/w) and it is treated as 10M (10N), for an exact measurement one must do a titration for the Cl ion. Add 85ml of 36w/w HCl to 900 ml of water,mix dilute to 1000ml with water,to get 1M HCl

Why does 1m solution of hcl considered more acidic than 1m soltion of ch3ooh?

because hcl is more acidic than ch3cooh. ch3cooh (ethanoic acid) is a weak acid whereas hcl is a very strong acid.
