Nucleic acid is a protein found in RNA and DNA to determine our genes.

THEY ARE NOT proteins.

Nucleic acids are what compose RNA and DNA. They store all of the information of your body and contain, if you will, the recipes necessary for the production of all the proteins in your body.

Hope this helps.
