John Newlands was an English chemist who pioneered the discovery of the Periodic Table of elements.He was one of the first, if not quite the first, to propound the conception of periodicity among the chemical elements. His earliest contribution to the question took the form of a letter published in the Chemical News in February 1863 Newlands arranged 62 elements of the elements known then in a table based on their atomic weight. He discovered that in his arrangement schematic, every eighth element displayed similar characteristics. He proposed, for the first time ever, the existence of periodicity as a property of the diffeHe was one of the first, if not quite the first, to propound the conception of periodicity among the chemical elements.
