Best Answer

Salt dissolves in water because the oxygen element in water is slightly negatively charged whereas The sodium is slightly positively charged. These two elements then combine. When you see salt not being dissolved, then that means the water is saturated and there aren't enough water molecules to match up with the sodium molecules.

No, sugar is the solute. The water is the solvent.Sugar is the solute, (the thing being dissolved) and the water is the solvent, (the thing that the solute is being dissolved in)

What example of solvents?

Water is the most commonly cited example of a solvent. Other common examples are hexane, ethanol, and ether.A solvent dissolves a solute, a good example would be sugar (the solute) and water (the solvent) mixing together. A example of a solvent would be water, an example of a solute would be salt or sugar.Examples: water, ethanol, methanol, iso-propanol, butanol, kerosene and many others.Water and ethanol are two examples of a solvent.

What is nature of solute and solvent examples?

The nature of solute and solvent will determine the solubility. When they are alike, they dissolve easily. A good example is water and sugar.

Biological benefits of water being a good solvent?

Water is considered as the universal solvent. This property of water is essential in sustaining life because most biochemical reactions in the body involve water.

What part of air is the solvent and why?

Water vapor would be the solvent. Water alone is a good solvent.

Can water be a solute?

Water can be a solute under some circumstances. For example, if 1cm3 of water is added to 100cm3 of ethanol, an ethanolic solution is formed in which ethanol is the solvent and water is the solute!!!note: a solute is that which is less in quantity and solvent is which is more in quantity

What is universal solvent?

A universal solvent doesn't exist; water is a good solvent for many materials.

Water is not a good solvent for re-crystallization because?

It is a non volatile solvent.

Is water a good solvent for many substanes?

Yes it's the universal solvent

How do you tell the difference between a solute and solvent?

A solute is the substance that is dissolved in a solution. A solvent is the substance in which the solute dissolves. For example, salt water contains the solute salt and the solvent water, and the salt dissolves in the water.
