No scientist in this or the last century. Air is mostly nitrogen, about a fifth oxygen and traces of several other gasses.
4HNO3 means HNO3 + HNO3 + HNO3 + HNO3 Taking any one HNO3 it has 1 x H (Hydrogen) 1 x N (Nitrogen) 3 x O (Oxygen) 1 + 1 + 3 = 5 So any one HNO3 has five atoms. So four lots of HNO3 has 4 X 5 =20 atoms. So no. of each type is 4 x hydrogen 4 x Nitrogen 12 x Oxygen 4 + 4 +12 = 20 as above. 4HNO3 would be said as 'Four molar ratios of nitric acid'.
Why is it impossible to make double bonds between nitrogen and oxygen? Who said it is impossible!! N has 5 valence electrons and O has 6 valence electrons. When you try to draw the structural formula of an N-O compound you have an extra electron. However, you can draw the structural formula of N2O4. Look it up on the web. It has 2 double bonded N=O and 2 single bonded N-O. New concept! The bonds are called resonance bonds, because one pair of electrons from each of the double bonds moves around the entire molecule. Thus the molecule is symmetrical. You need to see an image of this on the web understand it better!!
its not a mixture because i had a test on it and it said it was a pure substance.
Oxygen is an element and therefore is only contained by itself. However, it can be abstractly said that all elements with atomic numbers above eight "contain" oxygen, because if you removed enough neutrons, protons, and electrons from any element above 8, you would have oxygen. (Or at least, you would have an unstable atom).
A homogenous mixture has uniform composition throughout, where the components are evenly distributed and not distinguishable by the naked eye, like salt dissolved in water. A heterogeneous mixture has non-uniform composition, where the components are not evenly distributed and can be visually distinguished, like a mixture of oil and water.
Im pretty sure its composed of elements that are nonmetals. taking a test recently said that they were not noble gasses.
oxygen not a mixture, it was the combination of two atoms, so it is said to be compound. in this the two oxygen's are form two strong sigma bonds in b/w them.
An engine runs by the combustion of a mixture of oxygen and gasoline. If this mix has too much oxygen, it is said to run lean. When the mixture has too much gasoline in relation to oxygen, it is running rich.
Adiabatic compression occurs when a precisely controlled mixture of a flammable gas and oxygen are ignited by the heat of colliding molecules during the compression of said gas. This causes an explosion and the explosion causes an expansion of the gasses. These expanding gasses must force their way out of confinement and pushes a piston. This turns tirns a crank shaft which will mechanically open and close intake and exhaust valves through push rods.
because the hydrogen bonds in water will readily detach themselves from the oxygen molecules to form stronger bonds with other said molecules.
Yes. Pure air is a homogenous mixture. Air is a mixture of various kinds of gases. A mixture is said to be homogenous when all its constituents are in phase. Example, a mixture of water & milk is a homogenous mixture, as water & milk both are liquids & are in phase. Same is the case with pure air. All the constituents gases of pure air are in phase with each other. Hence its a homogenous mixture.
Nitrogen is largely unreactive under typical conditions and does not participate in the combustion reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. It remains as molecular nitrogen (N2) in the atmosphere after the combustion of hydrogen.
cause i said so
well the air is made up of soo many gasses but the main ones are carbon-dioxide, argon, oxygen and nickel. we breathe them mainly, but as i said, we breathe many others too...
Not exactly. You're referring to nitrogen, and you should have said "78 percent of air is made up of this".
A molecule is said to be organic if it contains carbon atoms covalently bonded to hydrogen atoms. Organic molecules can also contain other elements like oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus, as long as they are predominantly composed of carbon and hydrogen atoms.
Nitrogen is commonly found in a atmosphere. And whateverr that chick next to me said.
