Keep in mind that the Atomic Mass of an element is based on an average of relative abundance of stable isotopes. Nickel has several stable isotopes and Cobalt I believe has only one stable isotope. The weighted average proportionally to the relative abundance of the several Nickel isotopes is less than the average of Cobalt's isotope(s). So basically Though Nickel has a greater atomic number and the trend is for this to correlate with atomic mass because nickel exists in relatively large proportion as a lighter stable isotope Nickels average atomic mass is less than Cobalt's atomic mass. Google about relative abundance and calculating atomic mass to find all sorts of interesting things!

What scientists also proposed a periodic table about the same time as Mendeleev?

Unknown to Mendeleev, Lothar Meyer was also working on a Periodic Table. Although his work was published in 1864, and was done independently of Mendeleev, few historians regard him as an equal co-creator of the periodic table.

The atomic mass of cobalt (Co) is approximately 58.93 atomic mass units (amu).

What is meant by anomalous pairing of elements in Mendeleev s periodic table?

Anomalous pairing of elements in Mendeleev's periodic table refers to the placement of elements that do not follow the predicted order based on atomic mass. In some cases, elements with similar chemical properties were placed in different groups due to their atomic masses. This was done to maintain the overall pattern of the periodic table, highlighting the similarities in chemical behavior between elements.

What is the difference between the substances Co and CO?

On the periodic table every element has a symbol. The symbol for carbon is C. The symbol for oxygen is O. The symbol for cobalt is Co. So CO is actually a compound comprised of carbon and oxygen call carbon monoxide. Co is just plain old cobalt.
