Because alloys often have "better" properties than the pure metals. They may withstand more heat before melting, be more resistant to oxidizing or mechanically stronger for instance.

Answer

It's made of alloy because they are made of two or more metals(sometimes non-metals also) Which are combined together to produce a metal with cumulative properties of it's constituents.

Alloys are used rather than pure metals in electrical heating devices since they have low electrical conductivity and also a low melting point. Usually the alloys don't have a single melting point; they have a range of melting points. The temperature at which melting begins is called the SOLIDUS and the temperature at which melting is complete is called the LIQUIDUS.

An alloy is a homogenous mixture of a metal with another metal or a non-metal .eg:Bronze

Alloys are used in electrical heating devices rather than pure metals because, these alloys can exhibit or show both the properties of metals as well as non-metals.

or

Alloys are a mixture of a pure metal with one or more other metals or nonmetallic substances (carbon, etc.) in correct proportions that are selected to provide desirable properties for strength, fabrication and resistance to heat as well as resistance to electric current. The alloying matter may be a small amount of the total alloy but should affect the crystals of the pure metal including grain size and matter between grain boundaries. The discovery of ductile tungsten made it possible to use it in heating elements, including light bulb filaments. It was necessary to exclude oxygen and carbon from the pure tungsten to avoid embrittlement, etc.

To enable them to cope with the extreme heat that they generate. The heating elements in toasters and irons can hot up to several hundreds of degrees Centigrade, so for that reason, they need to be made of metals that are resistant enough to cope with that without melting, but which are at the same time light enough for the user to handle them without difficulty. They also need to be made of a metal that does not conduct the heat to other parts of the appliance, which would cause immense damage and be very dangerous.

It would in theory be possible to make them out of some of the heavier pure metals, such as iron (as, indeed, old-fashioned flat-irons were, that were heated on the fire and gave modern 'irons' their name). However, this would make them far too heat-conductive and also too heavy for convenient use.

The heating element conductor is made of an alloy called nichrome (made of Nickel and Chromium) that has very high resistance, which causes it to heat up more than a lower resistance metal would.

What is the difference between water heater and calorifier?

The water heater has an electric heating element that is responsible to make the water hot if submerged to water. While the Calorifier is composed of steam coil where the steam from boiler passes through, is responsible to make the water hot if it get contact to the steam coil.

Think of a metal spoon in a pot of hot water. How do the particles of the water affect the particles of the spoon?

Conduction is what transfers the heat in this process. The fast moving particles in the hot electric coil collide with the slow-moving particles in the cool pot. The transfer of the heat causes the pot's particles to move faster. Then the pot's particles collide with the water's particles, which in turn collide with the particles of the spoon. As the particles move faster, the metal spoon becomes hotter.

What is working of PMMC?

In PMMC meter or (D'Arsonval) meter or galvanometer all are the same instrument, a coil of fine wire is suspended in a magnetic field produced by permanent magnet. According to the fundamental law of electromagnetic force, the coil will rotate in the magnetic field when it carries an electric current by electromagnetic (EM) torque effect. A pointer which attached the movable coil will deflect according to the amount of current to be measured which applied to the coil. The (EM) torque is counterbalance by the mechanical torque of control springs attached to the movable coil also. When the torques are balanced the moving coil will stopped and its angular deflection represent the amount of electrical current to be measured against a fixed reference, called a scale. If the permanent magnet field is uniform and the spring linear, then the pointer deflection is also linear

What happens inside a convector heater?

A convection heater works on the principle of air convection currents circulating through its body and across its heating element. Heating element heats up the air, causing it to increase in volume and become buoyant. A convection heater can have an electrical heater element, a hot water coil, or a steam coil.

Why does the cord connecting to a room heater not glow while the the coil of the heater glows?

The wire in the cord is made of a very conductive metal, such as copper. Copper conducts electricity well, so not much energy is lost in transmission. The heating element will be made of a metal that isn't very conductive, so energy losses are high. This energy goes into heating the wires, and it's not uncommon for them to get red-hot in the process.

What E word denotes a heating coil in a toaster?

How does a convector heater function?

A convector heater works by using a heating element, usually electric, to warm up the air surrounding it. The warm air rises and creates convection currents, which circulate the heat throughout the room. As the cool air is drawn into the heater, it gets heated and rises, creating a continuous flow of warm air.
