BEWARE OF SPOILERS: Tally makes a remark that makes David leave while Tally stays with Zane. After the Diego war Tally goes to the Ruins and finds David. IT really was as if they didn't have that little "fight". At the end of Extras it's not clearly written that they were back together but has indications that they were.

Tally meets David, and decides to burn the necklace, because she likes the Smoke. Dr. Cable arrives with the specials who capture most the smokies, and Tally discovers that the tracker activates when damaged. They tell her to get the necklace, and she tricks them and runs away, and finds David. David and Tally rescue some of the smokies from Special Circumstances headquarters, But they find that Shay was already turned pretty and David's Dad; Az was killed in an experiment to try to forget the Lesions. Tally tells David that she was the one who betrayed the smoke and then writes a full consent to take the pills that Maddy made to cure the lesions; Tally turns herself in to become pretty.
