Quite a few! The idea is as old as Aesop. Humanized animals-sometimes interacting with real people, are a common juvenile ploy. I would say Uncle Wiggily which had both Human and animal characters getting along well,is one example, there are countless animal cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Huckleberry Hound, etc which do so. There are arguments pro and con, if the animal characters are made too smart, one can get into theological hot water-for example the widespread myth- the Night The Animals Talked on the First Christmas. Some years ago the Disney Org did, of all things, Robin Hood as a multi-role Animal Cartoon. I always thought that the (Ethical Gangster) idea was dumb enough as is, why adapt it to an animal cartoon. I also was of the opinion that broadly the basic saga was based roughly on a Biblical setting and nudging the condensate red-line on the Holy Water a sort of satire on the Gospels as if one had the heading, J.C. Gangster!-Not a good idea. I always had this idea.Maybe the writers were inspired by the so-called Passion plays and miracle plays of the Middle Ages which had type-cast characters and large casts-as does Robin Hood. The Disney org also did an animal-cartoon take-off of Oliver Twist with Dogs as the main characters and somewhat oddly, set in Manhattan, the only Disney film so located-but this was a cartoon. Despite a more or less depression-style group action plot, there were shots of modern skyscrapers such as the late W.T.C. It"s a Dog"s World!
