I would consult your local police station, or maybe a lawyer. But, what kind of sword? Because, the definition of "weapon" is a very broad thing. If you are looking to buy a sword online ... just keep in mind, a lot of them are stainless steel, blunted and decorative and don't really even qualify as real weapons. So ... you should be fine in that respect.
The only area I can see some fuzziness is a real carbon steel sword that is sharpened to cut. There are no Federal Laws prohibiting the use of a sword, but it really comes down to the local laws. Here in Massachusetts, there seems to be certain communities that prohibit them. And, even then, I've never seen a martial artist prohibited from using a weapon that they're training with.

The Galateen was Sir Lancelot's sword. Just as King Arthur had Excalibur, Lancelot's own sword was The Galateen.

According to Norse mythology, the name of Frey's sword is Laevateinn, or the sword of destiny. It will fight on it's own "if wise be he who weilds it", simaler to mjioneir, Thor's hammer.
