Almost all manga series are published in black and white, with popular series ocassionally including colour pages at the beginning of a chapter for promotional purposes; Weekly Shonen Jump, for example, choses which series will have colour pages (usually three or four pages) in each issue based on popularity or series landmarks (i.e. a series reaching its hundredth chapter). It is extremely rare for series to be in full colour, and those that are typically have a short chapter count, mostly because of the extensive work involved.
