OEM refrigerant which came installed in 1993 was Freon R12. I suggest you convert it to R134a if it has not already been converted. R12 is far to expensive.
I'm not a mechanic / technician , but I believe the answer is ( No ) From what I have read , the 4.0 liter OHV , Ford V6 engine had ( 3 ) engine blocks ( 1990 to 1994 ) ( 1995 and 1996 ) ( 1997 to 2000 ) There were different amounts of bolt holes in the outside of the engine blocks for the accessories etcetera

Then it has a V-8 swapped into it. More likely it is stock that is how they came with the 4 cylinders. they fire in sequence for more complete combustion.
No , OBD II came out in 1996 There should be an EEC TEST connection in your engine compartment , near the battery for your OBD I / EEC IV system
