internet & NETWORKING
The Internet is one big network connecting computers and people the world over. There are also networks which are not connected to the Internet allowing easy exchange of data at home or in an office environment.
Access to the Internet or using a local network offers many advantages. For example, do you want to create your own network or share an Internet connection with multiple computers at the same time ä Or perhaps even have Internet access via any socket available a Or do you want to share peripherals such as printers with multiple computers.
The Internet cannot be replaced by a single networking technology. The Internet the network of networks, each using its own networking technologies to connect with the other networks. That's how it is and how it will always be. For more info about what the Internet really means, check out Wikipedia:

No single entity "owns" the Internet, as it is a network of computers, routers, bridges, and so on that are owned by various organizations and individuals that, in sum, total the Internet.

NAT
•If the hosts on a network using private IP addresses need to access the Internet, a problem arises because the private IP addresses are not allowed on the Internet. •The solution is to use NAT (Network Address Translation), which uses a single public IP address to access the Internet on behalf of all hosts on the network using other IP addresses.
