my torch does work though...
depending on what type of torch itis, an ordinary hand held slim one is around 10 volts in ONE call and there are around 600 cells in the torch.. hope this helps

Try a simple propane torch first. If that will not work you may have to try a acetylene torch.
When you cleaned the torch did you also put a fresh, clean battery in the torch and test the bulb to see if tht works as well
