In case of Petrol engine power is controlled by Throttling. Now, at part load due to throttling the initial and final compression pressure decreases and dilution of the working mixture with residual gases thereby hindering a smooth prorogation of flame (undesirable phenomenon). This difficulty can be overcome by enriching the mixture (air-fuel ratio) at low loads which causes a wastage of fuel and also emission of pollutants.

What is the burn time for petrol in a petrol internal combustion engine?

This question has been difficult to answer! It would be fair to say that it varies with engine load conditions. However if you have to give an answer on the flame spread time then approximatly 2 ms would be fairly close.

Does switching on the air conditioning unit of an average sedan or any vehicle below 2.5cc engine capacity affect fuel consumption in a petrol engine?

The simple answer is "yes" it does. Adding ANY load to the engine will reduce its efficiency by some degree.

Who is better gasoline engine or diesel engine?

diesel. Diesel engines tend to have better efficiency especially at less than full load. Gasoline/Petrol and LPG engines tend to have better power weight ratios.

Why diesel engine is more better than petrol engine?

because diesel engine has the maximum efficiency than petrol engine. also diesel engine can handle more load than petrol,as we can see in case in case of heavy vehicles. --- Fuel Savings result because the Air to Fuel ratio is MUCH more "lean" (more air) in a Diesel than in a gasoline/petrol engine. At idle, the optimal mixture for gasoline is 14.7 parts of AIR to one part FUEL. Compare that to a Diesel engine, where the ratio is 50:1, and you'll note a significant savings. --- Other Advantages: Diesel designed his engine to run on virtually any available fuel (e.g.; vegetable oil) for times of short supply of petrol/gasoline. The diesel engine has higher TORQUE, meaning that it can haul larger loads than a gas/petrol engine. There is no Ignition Circuit to fail on a diesel engine. The ignition is achieved by compression and a "glow plug" which remains heated between piston cycles. ---

In terms of friction why does a car use more petrol when it has a load on its roof?

It uses more petrol because of air resistance. Friction pulling the load on the roof which causes the car to use more petrol because of the weight it needs more energy to move around.

Was lead ever present in petrol?

Yes indeed! The lead compound added to petrol inhibited knocking in the engine under load. The lead also would deposit in tiny amounts on the engine valve shafts, making them tighter in their cylinders, hence reducing oil leakage and smoking. Due to health risks of engine exhausts, other ways were developed to inhibit knocking.

Why do you use Diesel Engines to pull heavier loads petrol engines for higher speeds?

Becouse a diesel engine has no spark plugs to foul under a heavy load, and a heavy load can work in the diesel engines' favor because it uses compression not combustion Becouse a diesel engine has no spark plugs to foul under a heavy load, and a heavy load can work in the diesel engines' favor because it uses compression not combustion

Why does a car use more petrol when it has a load on the roof?

Its answer is very simple that a car uses more petrol when it has to overcome more wind resistance.

What are the ways to stop lagging current?

use more impedense load and use suitable capacitor bank with the load.

What is part load in internal combustion engine?

"Part Load" is short for partial load. "Load" is when the engine is doing work. Whatever work the engine is doing places a "load" on the engine which resists the engine's turning motion and slows the engine down so it requires more throttle to maintain speed. "Partial load" is when the engine is doing work that would stall the engine at idle, but does not require full throttle, just partial throttle. A good example would be a car traveling at highway speed or up a slight grade.
