Punchcards predate the existence of electronic computers themselves; the first commercially available computers produced by what is now IBM used punchcards. They were popular because, for nearly 100 years, there was no form of storage that was both cheap and reliable to replace it. However, by the mid-70s, other forms of storage were more readily available, so punch card usage pretty much died out. To understand why they were undesirable with suitable alternatives, think of the size of almost any program you would want to use today. Now think of how you would express that data on a punch card. Even if you used hex codes to represent each byte of a program (most punch cards were used mainly to perform arithmetic on numbers), it could take thousands of holes to express that program. This would require the usage of either very large punch cards which would be awkward to load, cards with very small holes that could no longer be punched by hand and with more moving parts, or the loading of hundreds or thousands of cards, which could take hours.
He became to popular on the AIM service and took up to much of the band-width so they retired him on November 18th 2008 for AIM. Subsequently on June 15th 2009 when ever spoken to on other on-line messengers he always replied with a 'My brain is retired,' followed by an advertisement. He then became fully retired on all servers, probably for the same reason as AIM, I know it bummed me out too.

The reason is fairly simple. Castles were a strong point and a defensible position when under attack, sometimes for weeks. With the coming of gunpowder and cannons, they were no longer able to defend them for a long period and for that reason became obsolete. The nobility then spent their money on creating an elaborate dwelling instead of a castle.
One reason is that it's old, obsolete product and they're merely trying to dispose of it.
"The Wall" was released in 1979 but songs such as "Another Brick in the Wall pt.2" became very very popular later. They also did a tour of "The Wall" in 1980-81 which was the first show of it's kind (also very popular). After that, Pink Floyd took a break but became very popular again in 1987 with their first album without their leader Roger Waters, "A Momentary Lapse of Reason".
